“Cambridge Maths” can refer to different stages, qualifications, syllabuses, and paper combinations. Cambridge Checkpoint Mathematics and Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics do not share the same assessment destination. Cambridge International A Level Mathematics introduces another set of syllabus choices and paper requirements.
Even within one qualification, the wording can still be incomplete. A student might be studying a particular syllabus code, following an extended or core route, preparing for selected components, or working toward a specific examination series.
Picture the practical moment. A parent checks the lesson materials after an evening session and sees that the examples do not match the student’s schoolwork. The tutor prepared sincerely. The student participated. The family paid for the hour. Yet the lesson moved along the wrong map because the original request supplied a subject label instead of a complete course identity.

- Ask which papers or components the student is expected to take.
Treat details copied from a WhatsApp message as provisional until they match a school or examination document. A parent does not need to master the syllabus. They only need to preserve the labels that allow the tutor to prepare for the right one.
A screenshot may help, provided it contains no unnecessary personal information. The tutor needs the course details, relevant page, and learning goal. They do not need unrelated messages, student identifiers, or a complete school record.
Matching should happen before lesson preparation
Curriculum-specific matching begins with the student profile.
